Switch from QuickBooks

Leave QuickBooks —
take everything with you.

Intuit’s price climbs and your data is hard to get back. LineLedger imports your full QuickBooks history, costs nothing at all — it’s open source, on your server — and exports to a portable ZIP anytime, so you’re never locked in again.

🎁

Free, with no asterisk

Not a trial, not a freemium tier, not free-for-now. LineLedger is released under the AGPLv3 — download it, run it, and there is nobody to pay. Ever.

📦

Your data is yours

It already lives on your server. And any company exports to a portable ZIP — your whole set of books in one file you hold. No lock-in, no ransom, no “export is a paid feature.”

🔍

Read every line

LineLedger is open source. Audit exactly how your books are calculated, patch what you need, and fork it if we ever let you down.

How the switch works

Three steps from QuickBooks to clean books in LineLedger.

1

Export from QuickBooks

Pull your chart of accounts, your customer and vendor lists, and a full general-ledger report out of QuickBooks. Our export guide walks through exactly what to grab.

2

Import into LineLedger

Bring your chart of accounts in and replay your general-ledger history across as many files as it takes — accounts mapped, contacts linked, refund cheques tracked.

3

Reconcile and carry on

Check your opening balances and trial balance, then keep working — invoicing, bills, sales tax, and drill-through reports, all on a price that never ratchets.

🔄

Your QuickBooks history comes with you

We import your chart of accounts and replay your complete general ledger — multi-file, full history, accounts mapped and contacts linked. And because every company exports to a portable ZIP, leaving is as easy as arriving. No fresh start, and no lock-in — in either direction.

  • Import a QuickBooks chart of accounts
  • Multi-file, full-history general ledger replay
  • Maps accounts, links contacts & tracks refund cheques

Common questions

Will I lose my history when I switch?
No. LineLedger imports your QuickBooks chart of accounts and replays your full general-ledger history across multiple files, mapping accounts and linking contacts, so your books carry over — no fresh start.
Can I get my data back out later?
Anytime. Every company exports to a self-contained, portable ZIP, and every report exports to CSV or XLSX. Cancel and your books stay readable to the end of the period. Leaving is as easy as arriving — that is the point.
What does it cost after I move?
Nothing. LineLedger is free software under the GNU AGPLv3 — you clone it, run it on a server you control, and there is no subscription, no trial, and nobody to pay. Your only cost is the server itself.
